Joanne Cramatte resides in Maleny on the beautiful hinterland of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Originally from Sydney where she studied Graphic Design and worked with the talented polymer clay artist, Belinda Jackson at "Out of the Ordinary" in the late 1980’s. Joanne’s passion for art and craft has always influenced her choices in life, having travelled parts of Europe, Canada, the US, UAE, and Australia, absorbing herself in each country's incredible scenery, meeting a spectacular rainbow of people, she always felt inspired to create and to make people happy. Inspiration for her art is mainly influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, Art and Craft Movement of the early 1900’s, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Joanne paints primarily with acrylic and incorporates other mediums such as watercolour pencils, beads and jewels to highlight each piece. Her Mermaid T-shirts are hand painted and lovingly embellished with glitter and rhinestones, giving them a life of their own. When working with polymer clay, Joanne finds that the designs are endless, everything from specialty buttons mainly for children’s clothing, the ever popular scrap booking and quilting, framed, sculptures of green frogs and flowers, tropical fish of the Great Barrier Reef to custom made jewellery, key rings and magnets Joanne also specializes in commissions from the public and has her work in many homes throughout the world.
